Hello, I'm Simon Jackson – founder of Solutions for Kids.
Solutions for Kids, offers children and young people a safe, welcoming therapeutic space where they can talk, play, and express themselves freely. Whether they’re feeling anxious, overwhelmed, angry, or just not quite themselves, the role of Solutions for Kids is to help them make sense of what’s going on. Sessions are led by the child, moving at their pace, in their own way using talking, play, art, or other creative methods that suit their needs.
I firmly believe in the importance of working closely with families, carers, and professionals to create a consistent circle of support for a child.
You will have dropped by this site either because you're looking for therapy support for a young person you care about or you're interested in the services I offer for care experienced children and the dedicated staff who support them.
Below, you’ll find links that take you directly to each of those areas. And of course, if you’d rather talk things through, just give me a ring. I’d be happy to help.
If you’d like to get to know a little more about me, just click the ‘Meet’ button in the menu. Or if you prefer a good old-fashioned chat, feel free to give me a call or drop me a message.
Not on Your Own
A recent report highlights that approximately 1 in 5 children and young people aged 8 to 25 in England are experiencing a mental health issue. Alarmingly, this number has increased each year since 2017 — rising from 12.5% in 2017 to 20.3% in 2023, representing a 62% increase.
For children in residential care, the figures are even more stark. This group represents some of the most vulnerable in society, with around 72% experiencing a diagnosable mental health condition, compared to 20% in the general population.
This disparity is largely the result of complex trauma, placement instability, and delayed intervention.

At Solutions for Kids, one of our core aims is to nurture growth, resilience, and connection through the power of meaningful relationships. This aim is rooted in what we call The Flower Pot Approach, a simple but powerful way of understanding how children thrive when the right conditions are in place.
Hope
We believe that with the right support, patience, and care, any challenge can begin to shift. Whether it’s trauma, anxiety, loss, or low self-esteem—there is always hope. This hope is grounded in strong, healthy partnerships between the child and the key adults in their world.
Connection
Real change happens in relationships. We work collaboratively—with children, families, schools, and carers—because when we’re connected and working together, children feel safer, stronger, and more able to grow.
Creativity and Wonder
Children are wired for play, imagination, and curiosity. We celebrate that. Whether through art, storytelling, movement, or humour, our therapeutic work is full of colour, creativity, and those magic moments of “what if…”
Just like a flower needs the right soil, care, and environment to grow, so do children. The Flower Pot Approach reminds us to keep nurturing—with hope, connection, and creativity at the heart of everything we do.
Unkown
Real change happens when we meet children and those who care for them, with creativity, compassion, and belief in their potential to grow.
