Every Child deserves to be Seen, Heard and Valued

Understanding the Ups and Downs of Childhood

All children, as they grow and develop, will face challenges,  it's a natural part of life. For some, these challenges may lead to difficulties such as anxiety, low mood, disrupted sleep, tantrums, or behaviours that appear challenging.

Often, these experiences are temporary. They come and go like waves — appearing for a while, then fading as quickly as they arrived. But sometimes, they linger. They settle in, become more consistent, and begin to affect the child more deeply — shaping how they feel, think, and behave in everyday life.

Recognising the difference between a passing difficulty and a more persistent concern is crucial. With the right support, even the most entrenched struggles can be softened — and every child can begin to rediscover their strengths, their confidence, and their sense of safety.

At Solutions for Kids, I believe that every child is more than a diagnosis, a label, or a set of behaviours.

No matter the challenges they’ve faced, the names they’ve been given, or how they express their pain, every child holds the potential for healing, connection, and growth.

In my work with Children and Young People, I have no desire to fix, punish, or judge a child for how they show up in the world. Instead, I work from a place of deep respect for who they are and what they’ve survived. Every child deserves to feel safe, accepted, and understood,  not despite their behaviour, but because of the story it tells.

In my therapeutic relationships, I view each child holistically, ethically, and compassionately, always focusing on their strengths, hopes, and capabilities,  not just their difficulties. The work is guided by a belief in their resilience, their right to be heard, and their capacity to rewrite their own story.

Every step we take together is rooted in respect, compassion, and a steadfast belief in the incredible potential of every child.

My Services

As a Therapist I have had the privilege of working with children and young people  in schools, residential settings, and private practice.  I understand how to support children who’ve faced life challenges, including trauma, loss, or big life changes.

I offer one-on-one therapy sessions to children and young people, tailored to meet their specific needs.

The Value of Play

Play is far more than just fun. It's the language of childhood. Through play, children explore the world around them, process their experiences, express emotions, and develop the essential building blocks of emotional, social, and cognitive growth.

Play helps children to:

  • Build brain connections by enhancing memory, problem-solving, and imagination

  • Develop communication and language skills

  •  Learn social skills like turn-taking, empathy, and cooperation

  •  Regulate emotions and manage stress in a safe, creative way

  • Work through trauma and difficult experiences symbolically

In therapeutic work, play is often the bridge between a child’s inner world and the adult trying to understand it. It allows us to meet the child on their terms, in their language, without pressure or expectation.

At Solutions for Kids, play is not just a method — it’s a mindset. Whether using toys, art, storytelling, or movement, we honour each child’s unique way of exploring, expressing, and healing.
